Coming Soon: Bubble Bumble!

After two-and-a-half months of discovering pixel art and game development, I’m finally announcing my first indie game, Bubble Bumble! I'll be launching it on my Itch.io, page and you can follow my page to stay updated.

Coming soon, Bubble Bumble game

Bubble Bumble is a short, 2D pixel art game where you play as Kiwi, a small but mighty bee with a broken stinger, who’s always looking for the best flowers to bring home to her hive and Queen Bee. When Kiwi gets trapped in a supper bubble 3000, she needs your help getting home while collecting flowers, and to avoid the Aviator Birds who will try to pop her bubble from their fighter planes and eat her!

When I sketched my first concept art for Bubble Bumble, I asked myself one question as I was curious about game making: “Can I make a video game?”

And I think I did pretty good on my first try. As always with most of my ideas, I created a series of plans during my development process, but I'm starting with a basic one-level, endless runner type of game to start myself off with.

Since I have more to share about Kiwi's adventure (and a much longer game planned), I call this my prototype/beta/first game. I intend to re-launch Bubble Bumble later with more levels, characters, and perhaps a musical number or two...After all, the sky is the limit with Kiwi!

To keep things manageable, I gave myself three main objectives. One, learn pixel art. Two, find a game engine and study how games are made. And three, learn a programming language to bring it all together. I feel great that I was able to achieve my primary goals. Of course, I’m not the best at any of these, but I now know enough to start.

I still haven't decided if I want to build a browser/web game or have it only be downloadable, but regardless, it will be a suggested donation of $1 or free to play. I felt kinda silly putting a 4-quarters price tag on my first game, but I worked hard to learn and create this, and a little support can go a long way. While I don’t have an official launch date, you can follow my itch.io profile and subscribe to my email newsletter to stay updated.
