Hey there, creative people!
Meet Kiwi, the main character of my first indie game, Bubble Bumble (you can read about it here.) I'll be releasing Bubble Bumble on my itch.io page, so in the meantime, let me introduce you to Kiwi!
Kiwi is a small yet mighty bumblebee who doesn't let her size or broken stinger stop her from doing what she loves; finding the best flowers to create the best bouquets. However, Kiwi has a big personality and has a bit of a competitive streak, which tends to cloud her judgment and gets her into messy situations...like being trapped in a bubble!
Kiwi got her name from her treasured flower bag after a creative comrade pointed out that her bag looks like a kiwi. She's smaller than the other bees in her hive, which is why her primary sprite size is 16x16 pixels. I think keeping Kiwi small is a fun character design choice of mine.
Although I'm keeping my first game fairly short compared to my concept art and development, I've really enjoyed my process and even the learning curve of game dev.
I'm going for a no-outline style for most of my game's design, and this is how I finally put Kiwi together (the final design has her stinger and no outline).
I'm creating in Aseprite, a pixel art program that I'm using for all of my art and animations. I'm really thankful for all of the youtube tutorials and documentation on Aseprite, which has given me an endless source of learning material.
My game is almost finished, and I can't wait for you to play it!
